Title Wall Exercise
For this exercise, I chose the exhibition title "Decadent Dreams: 15 Years of Too Many Dinner Parties." While creating some title walls for this exhibition, I did some research on antique silverware and dinnerware, colors of dated kitchen walls and dinner party themes, old dinner party menus and decor, etc. A lot of the design choices made during the creation process of these title walls were inspired by my research. I wanted to stick with a cursive-style font for my title walls because that was the font that appeared a lot in older kitchen/dinner party settings. I paired the cursive font with a sans-serif font for longer, supporting sections of text. I included some graphics, like the bow on the menu-style information box, and the plate and silverware information section. I experimented with different background colors for each of the wall designs, all influenced by wall colors and color-themes of dated dinner parties. I moved the title alignment and placement around on each wall design, but kept the eye-height of the average person in mind. I also tried to include appropriately-sized title and reading text.
